About Heidi and Ross
Welcome from Heidi and Ross. We thank you for your interest in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). We are so pleased to be able to assist you to develop what we consider to be an especially important life skill, mindfulness. We understand that many of you may also be learning these skills so that you can help others during these and challenging times. Mindfulness training can give you as practitioners a common platform from which to grow your own mindfulness practice community.
So, a little bit about us Heidi and Ross … We are a father and daughter team who have dedicated our lives to the practice of Meditation and Yoga, and we want to give back to others. We have both found different practices and techniques that are beneficial in our lives.
About Heidi:
I started using these tools when I was finishing my MBA in my early twenties. I would attend different meditation and yoga retreats and would notice a significant difference in how I could handle the high level of pressure and stress that is often present in academic and corporate environments. I was able to transform my relationship with ‘stress’ and became more peaceful, present with myself and others, and amazingly performed better.
I was so inspired by the results that I experienced, that I eventually went on to complete my Yoga certification and trained in mindfulness. I have learned through regular practice the ability to control my mind and respond in a mindful way, instead of being reactionary and feeling overwhelmed.
About Ross:
At the age of 40, the stresses in my life were more than my life skills to manage them. I had a deep inner knowing that there was another way. So, I began practising gentle body movements and yoga to help release the stress held inside my body. Next, I started to practice Mindfulness Meditation to strengthen and quiet my mind.
30-years later, I look back with a deep appreciation for these ancient practices. They have changed my relationship with stress and fear. I, like Heidi, would like to share three practices that have been the most helpful. They are the simple mindful practices of Grounding, Opening, and Resting.
Our hope is that you find the M.B.S.R. program personally and professionally rewarding. We will endeavour to support you to the best of our abilities. From practising mindfulness for over 25 years, we believe with your interest, courage, and practice you will also experience this beautiful and powerful life skill.
